Who runs Coding Bounties, and why should you trust what it says?
Coding Bounties is published by EZO Labs, the company that builds and runs make.fun. The board on the home page lists make.fun bounties only, so you are reading a site with an interest in the subject, and we would rather say that up front than leave you to work it out.
What this site is for
Developers arrive at coding bounties from different directions: an open-source maintainer who funds an issue, a security researcher who reads a program's scope, a student who wants a scored problem with a deadline. The words are shared, the mechanics are not. Who reviews the work, how the money is sent and what happens after a disagreement change from one platform to the next, and those differences matter more than the headline number on any listing.
This site explains those mechanics in plain terms, and shows the code, security and automation bounties currently open on make.fun beside the explanation.
How we research a page
Each guide page lists its sources at the bottom, with the date someone read them. Descriptions of other platforms come from those platforms' own documentation, in their own terms, and we name the page we read. Figures that change, such as the number of open bounties and their combined rewards, are pulled from make.fun's public data each time the site is built, and the page prints the date of that reading next to them.
Fairness rules we hold ourselves to
- We describe other platforms; we do not rank them or run them down.
- We never suggest that entering a bounty will earn you money. Rewards go to the places a bounty lists, and most entrants in any contest are not among them.
- We do not describe any bounty as easy, and we do not leave out a rule that works against entrants.
- We say what we do not know rather than guess at it.
Corrections
If a fact here is wrong or has gone stale, email hi@make.fun with the page address and what changed. A person checks each report, fixes the page in place, and moves its update date forward, so the date beside every page tells you when it was last reviewed.
